The second compact disc with a recording of Zdeněk Fibich’s Piano Quartet and Quintet complements the first, released in 2001 (String Quartets in G major and A major, Thema con variazioni, Panoch Quartet, SU 3470-2 131). The customer now has the opportunity on two compact discs to cover the composer’s chamber works, which are not large in scope but nevertheless significant in their importance. Fibich, a true romantic, created true gems in which his unmistakable compositional handwriting is fully revealed. Moreover, the Piano Quintet in D major is presented for the first time on digital media in its original version with wind instruments.
